I Wanna Fly Away

Hits: 62

I wish that I could fly
Into the sky
So very high
Just like a dragonfly I’d fly above the trees
Over the seas in all degrees
To anywhere I please Oh I want to get away
I want to fly away
Yeah yeah yeah

Oh I want to get away
I want to fly away
Yeah yeah yeah

Let’s go and see the stars
The milky way or even Mars
Where it could just be ours

Let’s fade into the sun
Let your spirit fly
Where we are one
Just for a little fun
Oh oh oh yeah !

I want to get away
I want to fly away
Yeah yeah yeah

I want to get away
I want to fly away
Yeah yeah yeah

I got to get away
Feel I got to get away
Oh oh oh yeah

I want to get away
I want to fly away
Yeah with you yeah yeah
Oh Yeah !

I want to get away
I want to fly away
Yeah with you yeah yeah
I got to get away

I want to get away [X4]
Yeah
I want to get away
I want to fly away
Yeah with you yeah yeah
I got to get away

I want to get away [X4]
Yeah

I want to get away
I want to fly away
Yeah with you
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

Fly Away – Lenny Kravits

It’s 6:30 pm and I’m sitting on top of Blackcat Mountain in Poland Maine. I grew up next to this mountain and spent many nights at this summit. The view is not that spectacular, I can still hear the sounds of human activity, but the sense of peace still permeates my being.

Here’s a shot of my new rooftop tent from Cascadia Rooftop Tents. I can’t tell you how happy I am and pleased with this purchase. The quality was every bit as good as the advertising. As far as the ride up here, it was a bit of a challenge due to the rough terrain. This is the first time I have taken my Jeep on a forest trail, and I had to use the winch to get me out of the mud. The trail is a 3.5 on a scale of 5 in difficulty but the Jeep proved her worth. A little dirty but no damage.

This mountain holds a place in my mind for many reasons. I spent almost every night up here one summer when I was young, and not 12 feet from where I sit I almost died due to heavy drug use. I’m not proud of that moment, but I’m not ashamed either. I was young and blissfully unaware of how sacred and fleeting life is and it could have ended that evening, but here I sit in the same spot 3 decades later. The saddest part of that evening is the fact that 7 people I thought were my “Friends” were no more that 30 feet away and had no idea of my plight.

As I sit here I feel a connection to my past, a sense of how I have come full circle. The wind in the trees and the sound of a distant plane bring both constants into focus. The present and the past intermingle with the future in this place, a sense of harmony with nature evoke feelings of peace and contentment within me. I will sleep the sleep of saints in this place tonight and feel free from the tribulations of a life controlled by the stresses of modern life. Goodnight Poland Maine, I wish you goodwill.

I can feel the peace in your words John. The past is the past and I’m so very pleased that you’re at this better place now in your life. Enjoy the camping, there’s no better thing to sooth the soul. Great looking set up. Bet you’re glad you’ve got that winch!

Turning a location of failures into a celebration of success does wonders for the soul. The mouth of the Merrimack River did it for me. I visited it after carrying out my Dad’s last wishes. Couldn’t explain the feelings to anyone but I belonged there that day.

I have a vision of you disappearing during the night as strong winds carry the rooftop tent off into the distance!
